Privacy
The simple version: we do not require accounts, we do not sell anything, and we keep tracking minimal.
What we do not collect
howmanyplay does not ask for an account, an email, or any personal information. There is no signup flow. You can use the entire site without identifying yourself.
What we do collect
Standard web access logs that the hosting platform records for every request: IP address, request path, user agent, response code, and timestamp. We use these only to keep the site running and troubleshoot errors. Logs are deleted after 30 days.
Analytics
We use two analytics tools, but only after you accept the cookie banner on your first visit. If you decline, neither one loads.
- Google Analytics 4 aggregates pageviews, session counts, country-level geography, and device type. It sets cookies so it can recognize returning visitors. We do not share identifiable data with Google beyond what GA collects by default.
- Microsoft Clarity records sessions as heatmaps and replays of mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behavior. It masks form fields by default and we do not use it to identify individuals. Clarity sets its own cookies.
You can revoke consent at any time by clearing your site data in the browser. The banner will reappear and you can pick differently.
Cookies
We do not set any cookies on howmanyplay.com itself. The analytics tools above set their own cookies, but only after you accept. Embedded media (Steam trailers loaded from steamstatic.com) follow their hosts’ own policies.
Sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their independent commercial use. California residents can read the CCPA disclosure here.
Advertising
If we add advertising in the future, it will be from Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies to personalize ads. Visitors in regions covered by GDPR or CCPA will see a consent prompt before any ad cookies load. You can read Google’s advertising policies for the full picture.
Children
Our content is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date below and post a note on the homepage when the change is significant. Last updated: May 2026.
